This method is particularly useful for brands managing multiple product launches or targeting varied audiences in short periods, ensuring consistent outreach without financial bottlenecks.

Connecting Google Analytics https://getblogged.net/blog/connecting-google-analytics/ https://getblogged.net/blog/connecting-google-analytics/#respond Tue, 07 Nov 2023 08:50:00 +0000 https://getblogged.net/?p=4357 Connecting your Get Blogged account to Google Analytics has many benefits including making your sites appear more attractive to brands! Learn more below.

The post Connecting Google Analytics appeared first on Get Blogged .

What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool offered by Google that tracks and reports a complete view of website interaction, including website traffic, user experience, user behaviour, device functionality, online content and audience demographics among other useful information.

It is a service that helps website owners to better track and understand the users of their website through data collected by a tracking code placed on each page of the website. The tracking code records a range of activities performed by the site’s visitors, along with the demographics of those users. It then sends all that information to the Google Analytics server.

Google’s unique insights and machine learning capabilities can help get the most out of the data with features like analytics intelligence, detailed reporting and so much more.

It’s simple to get started with Google Analytics and start collecting basic data – see this step by step guide from Google to get it set up. If you’re using WordPress, check out our guide to the Google Site Kit Plugin. This super-simple plugin will get you set up with Google Analytics in no time at all.

Why should bloggers use Google Analytics?

The success of a blog is determined by a number of metrics, from Domain Authority from Moz.com to Trust Flow and Citation Flow from Majestic etc. All of these metrics have been designed by companies using their best guess as to a website’s performance based on the third party data available to them.

Unlike these, Google Analytics draws its data from a tracking code on the website itself, allowing it to report data from actual real interactions on the site. This means that as a blogger you have solid information at your fingertips that shows how your blog is performing and you can quickly identify areas for improvement for future success.

By tracking Google Analytics metrics, you can measure your blog’s position in the present, its growth over time, and plan strategies for bigger success in the future.

Analytics also provides you with real data, such as traffic numbers, that you can share with brands and PR agencies looking to form partnerships with bloggers. They will not have access to real data, only the best guess data provided by those third-party tools previously mentioned. So, being able to provide them with real information about your site through a media pack, or even just a screenshot can make you far more appealing for potential collaborations.

Google Analytics can be intimidating when getting started, but the good news is Google offers online training from beginner to advanced levels via their Analytics Academy.

Why connect your Get Blogged account to Google Analytics?

The Get Blogged platform has relied on a third-party tool for a long time and it has become obvious that this tool can not offer reliable data, with traffic information being grossly underestimated. This means our brands do not have the best data in order to decide who is best to hire for their assignments.

Connecting your Get Blogged profile with Google Analytics means your blog can put its best foot forward and can show off just how well it is doing, becoming more appealing to brands wanting to make hires.

How to connect Get Blogged to Google Analytics

The process to connect your profile to Google Analytics is a simple one:

 1. Click on your name in the top right-hand corner, and click ‘your profile’.
 2. Scroll down to the ‘websites’ section, and click on the three dots parallel to your website name.
 3. Click the ‘Google Analytics’ button.
 4. Sign in with your Google Account.
 5. You will be directed back to your profile page. All done!

It may take a few days to pull your traffic data, so check back later if your stats are not immediately updated.

If you encounter any problems feel free to contact us and we can help you get up and running.

This guide will help you to make sure your profile is the best it can be.

]]>
Welcome to Get Blogged! One of the most essential elements of your account is your profile. It represents you and your blog and is the primary way a brand can get to know you and decide if you are suitable for their collaboration.

If you’re leaving parts of your profile blank you really are missing out on a chance to show off your stats, skills and allow brands to get to know you.

It’s worth considering that some information from your profile is shown to brands alongside your proposals, so leaving anything out will mean you may have a reduced chance of catching a brand’s eye.

These are the key areas of your profile to focus on:

Add your website

It’s quick and easy to add a new site to your profile. It only takes a few simple steps and once the site is added you can start browsing our marketplace for collaboration opportunities. You can see our step by step guide to adding a site to your profile here.

Verify your site

Verifying that you own your site is an important step. Verifying your website is the best way to show prospective brands that you are the genuine owner of a website and can collaborate with them with content based assignments. We have a step by step guide on how to verify your site which you can find here.

Connect to Google Analytics

Connecting your Get Blogged profile with Google Analytics means your blog can put its best foot forward and can show off just how well it is doing, becoming more appealing to brands wanting to make hires. Many brands look for bloggers with specific traffic levels, so connecting your account to your Google Analytics is the best way to show off your traffic stats. We have a full guide on connecting to Google Analytics which you can find here.

Add your social channels

After adding a website, adding your social media channels is the next important step to completing your Get Blogged profile. Many brands look for bloggers with good social media followings when hiring bloggers for assignments. Adding your social media channels to your profile is a two-step process that you can learn more about on our guide here.

Upload a Photo

Everyone likes putting a face to a name, so adding a photo to your profile is a great step in connecting with potential brands as well as appearing more genuine. A passport-style head and shoulders shot works best! Once you have the perfect photo, go to your profile and click on the pink pencil appearing beneath the photo space on the top right-hand side. You will be prompted to choose a file from your computer to upload and make sure to click ‘save changes’. Your photo should now appear on your profile.

Please find an instructional video below for extra help.

Upload a Cover Photo

Having a cover photo on your profile helps you show off your personality and will make you stand out from the crowd! It also shows brands that you have put some effort into making your profile look great.

It’s easy to upload a cover photo. Once you have chosen the perfect image (preferably 960 x 300 pixels), go to your profile and click on the pink pencil appearing on the top left-hand side beneath the ‘contact details’ button. You will be prompted to choose a file from your computer to upload and make sure to click ‘save changes’. Your photo should now appear on your profile.

Write a Bio

The bio section of your profile is the perfect place to tell brands all about you and your blog(s). Good bios include details about you as a person, where you’re from, what you do, your hobbies and interests, and the story behind your blog – why you started it, what topics you cover, proudest blogging moments, top collaborations, follower numbers etc. Make sure to include anything that will make you stand out from the crowd.

Adding a bio to your profile is easy; navigate to your profile and find the bio section. Click the pink pencil and write your bio in the text field. Make sure to click ‘save changes’ and your bio will appear on your profile.

Please find an instructional video below for extra help.

Add your Skills

The skills section is designed to give you a space to show off your blogging-related skills. It’s simple to add them to your profile. Scroll to the skills section on your profile and click the pink pencil icon. Click in the text box and you will see a drop-down menu of options. Simply click on the ones which best represent your experience and talents. Click ‘save changes’ to add them to your profile.

Please find an instructional video below for extra help.

Email Subscriptions

If you have built an email list or newsletter this is where you can boast about that. Simply click on the pink plus sign next to the ’email subscriptions’ section on your profile and add a title, description and subscriber count. Click ‘save email subscription’ and now the details will show on your profile.

Qualifications & Awards

Have you won any blogging awards? Are you in a top 100 or top 10 list? Do you have any relevant qualifications? This area of your profile allows you to show off and boost your profile to the next level. Click on the pink plus icon next to the qualifications and awards section and fill out the prompts: name, year, institute, qualification level (if relevant) and a description. Click ‘save qualification’ to add it to your profile. You can add multiple qualifications to this section.

Once all of these sections have been filled out you will stand in great stead for attracting brands looking for bloggers to collaborate with. Alongside a top-notch proposal, a solid profile will make you stand out.

Unfortunately, sometimes sites are added to profiles by people who don’t actually own the site in question and in order to put a stop to this unfair practice we now ask bloggers to verify their sites. Verifying your website is the best way to show prospective brands that you are the genuine owner of a website and are able to collaborate with them with content based assignments.

Verifying your site only takes a couple of minutes so it’s well worth going through the steps to make sure you are seen as a genuine and honest blogger. Follow this guide to verify your sites:

 1. Log into your Get Blogged Account. Click on your avatar in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

2. Click on ‘your profile’ menu option

3. Scroll down your profile page until you find the ‘websites’ section.

4. Click on the three blobs parallel to your website name and click the ‘verify’ menu option.

5. You will be presented with 3 methods for verifying your site.

Method 1: Add a meta tag to your website header. Copy and paste the HTML code provided into the header of your site.

Method 2: Download a file and place it in the root directory of your website.

Method 3: If you are a WordPress user then using the WordPress Plugin is by far the quickest and easiest way to verify your site.

Once you have completed your chosen method click the verify website button.

If your verification is successful a green tick will appear next to the website on your profile.

Please find an instructional video below for extra help.

If you have any trouble verifying your website please contact us.

Read on to learn how.

After adding a website, adding your social media channels is the next important step to completing your Get Blogged profile. Many brands look for bloggers with good social media followings when hiring bloggers for assignments, so it’s worth taking a couple of minutes to add Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter to your profile!

Adding your social media channels to your profile is a two-step process; first, you add each social media channel to your profile and second, you associate each channel with the corresponding website so that when you submit a pitch for an assignment on our marketplace the brand can automatically see how many followers each site has on social media.

 1. Log into your Get Blogged Account. Click on your avatar in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

2. Click on the ‘your profile’ option on the menu.

3. Scroll down your profile page until you find the ‘social’ section and click the pink + symbol next to ‘social’.

4. Click on the blue buttons and follow the instructions to connect to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Then click save.

Associate social channels to a site

Now you have added your social channels to your account, next you need to associate them to your site so that your social metrics appear in any pitches you submit for marketplace assignments.

 1. Scroll down your profile to the ‘social’ section. You should now see your social media channels appearing here. Click the little downwards pointing arrow parallel to your social channel.

2. Click the pink pencil icon that appears beneath your social channel details. Please note, the red cross button deletes a social channel.

3. You will see your social channel name and your website name appear. If you have more than 1 website on your profile you will need to click on the dropdown menu and select the website which matches the social channel you are editing. Once the correct website has been selected click save. Repeat this with each social channel.

If you return to your profile you should now see the social channel sitting beneath your website on your profile, rather than sitting under the ‘social’ section.

Please find an instructional video below for extra help.

Here’s Ruth, our Marketing Manager’s Advice…

 • Let us know why you’re passionate about that particular assignment!
 • Include a link to a previous post you’ve written on a similar topic, or just let us know why this opportunity caught your eye and you feel like it’s perfect for you.
 • We love to see your enthusiasm for the subject shine through
 • Show us how you’d tackle the assignment and how you’d bring it to life.

Michelle from Coconut Odyssey Says…

 • Be upfront straight away, i.e. are you happy to receive a gifted product to review, or do you want it to be a paid collaboration and not just paid in kind?
 • Hook brands in the first sentence & the subject line!
 • Research is key! I can spend a whole day researching a brand before I even send over my pitch. Research them on LinkedIn, on their own website, and see who else is working with them before you do anything!
 • Tell them who you are and why they need to keep reading the rest of your pitch. I explain straight away that I specialize in scuba diving and wildlife to hook them.
 • Sadly some brands still think content creators are just looking for freebies so make sure you tell them what you can offer in return

Here are Emma’s Pitching Tips…

 • Introduce yourself, a bit about you, why you love your niche of blogging, and how long you’ve been blogging for.
 • Explain your blog post idea for the job you are applying for – what sort of blog post would resonate with your readers? What angle would you take on the task at hand?
 • Link a previous similar blog post you have written.
 • Tell us your stats – do you also always share on your Twitter account with X amount of followers? Let us know a little bit more about your numbers.
 • Make your own template for this so you can just edit it per job and topic rather than re-write it each time.
 • Just be yourself and let us know about your blog. You’re here for a reason already – you’re bloody good at what you do and we’re always excited to work with you!

Jo from Girl Eats World Blog Gives Her Advice…

 • Cut to the chase: PR companies and brand marketing teams are busy. Let them know in a brief, friendly introduction who you are, what you do, and why you would be a good fit to work with them. Back this up with a summary of your blog/social stats.
 • Provide options: Being vague adds workload to the person you are contacting.
 • It’s great to add instant value by showing options for how you could work together. This could be packages for what you include within your services for blog or Instagram promotion.
 • I think it’s handy to offer an indication of price as well to avoid assumptions on either side.
 • Be enthusiastic: I dislike the notion that bloggers should sit back and quietly wait to be approached for opportunities. That isn’t how business works and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. However your credibility relies on picking brands that fit with your niche and values, so ensure that whoever you’re approaching it is done with true passion. You should know about the brand and be enthusiastic about what they do.

Advice From Our Brands…

 • Be sure to include the title of the post you’d write, as well as some brief bullet points explaining the points you’d cover in your post.
 • We love it when you share a personal story or experience, or you mention a piece of research in the subject area that you think your readers would love to hear about.
 • When using the Marketplace, make sure you let (us) the brand know exactly what you can offer them, in terms of specific deliverables. ‘I can help you with this campaign’, for example, is a little vague. But ‘I can write a 500-word review of your product on my blog, and create a grid post on Instagram featuring custom photography for £xx’ lets them see exactly what you have to offer and what a partnership would look like in practical terms.
